Nanomaterials for medical and biological applications

18 SEPTEMBER   sveglia 11:00 - 12:30

TT.X Technical Multi-Track with Parallel SYMPOSIA
Nanomaterials for medical and biological applications
Co-organized with Sapienza University of Rome
Chair: Marta FEROCI, Sapienza University of Rome
The use of nanomaterials in the field of medicine and biology has greatly advanced in the recent years. A wide spread of different approaches that one were promising applications are nowadays well-established approaches, ranging from nano-carriers for drug delivery to nanostructured surfaces to induce specific cellular response, from innovative nanostructured materials to nano-based sensors with high-sensitivity and specificity. The introduction of nanomaterials in medicine is rapidly enhancing the creation of point-of-care devices, capable of obtaining patient-specific tailored treatment that could represent the future of personalized medicine. In this conference section an overview of the field is proposed, not only from the point of view of the single application but also stressing the crucial role that the synergy between different scientific backgrounds and expertise plays in the field of applied nanomaterials, that represent a perfect example of the importance of a multidisciplinary approach.
